Date 2020-09-15

(September 10th, 2020, Shanghai) On September 2nd, at the inaugural ceremony of the 20th China (Shanghai) Coatings Show, Shanghai Hilong Shine New Materials Co., Ltd, a subsidiary of Hilong Group, was conferred the title "Advanced Demonstration Unit for Promotion of Coatings with Low VOC Content" by China Coatings Industry Association.

The prevention and control of volatile organic compound (VOC) pollution is the primary focus of air pollution prevention and control, however, the widespread application of coatings, is a major contributor to VOC emissions. Based on the "Technical Requirement for Low Volatile Organic Compound Content Coating Products", jointly formulated by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, and the National Standards Committee, and the promotion and application of low VOC content coatings by enterprises, the China Coatings Industry Association selected the "Advanced Demonstration Units for the Promotion of Coatings with low VOC Content Coatings", which were commended and promoted at the show.

A variety of low-VOC, water-based, and high-solid coating products independently developed by Hilong Shine New Material, not only meet the GB/T 38597-2020 "Technical Requirements for Low Volatile Organic Compound Content Coating Products" national standard, but also the measured values were far below the emissions standard. For example, the measured VOC content of HilonGuard 2710 waterborne epoxy is 28 g/L, which is lower than the limit of 100 g/L; the measured VOC content of HilonDeco PU 9460 waterborne polyurethane topcoat is 129 g/L, which is lower than the limit of 200 g/L; the measured VOC content of HilonDeco Cryl 9260 water-based acrylic topcoat is 50 g/L, which is lower than the limit of 100 g/L.

"Hilong Shine has always adhered to the development concept of green and environmental protection. Its independently developed water-based and high-solid coating products have won industry acclaim due to their excellent anti-corrosion performance, low VOC and environmentally friendly characteristics, and they are widely applied in industrial anti-corrosion fields such as storage tanks, bridges and ships." said Ren Weidong, General Manager at Hilong Shine.

He further quoted, “Hilong’s winning of this award is the community’s recognition of Hilong’s consistent efforts on green development, which has strengthened our long-term development strategy to list ‘green manufacturing’ as a key task and take all effective measures to control coating production and VOC emissions. In our efforts to build a top national brand, we constantly strive to contribute to energy conservation and emission reduction while promoting and implementing green revolution policies in the coating industry, resulting in overall social progress.”
